GABBY'S WORLD is the recording project of songwriter and producer Gabrielle Smith. The project began in 2007 as an outlet for Smith’s experimental and noisy home-recordings which began developing over the years into the realm of more structured pop songwriting. Smith released her full-length album, O.K., on Double Double Whammy in 2015. O.K. received wide critical acclaim, being called the #1 record of the year by the U.K. blog GoldFlakePaint, and was featured in NPR’s All Songs Considered’s Top 10 albums of 2015.
Smith's latest recording, Year of the Rabbit, advances Smith’s sound further; the collection of songs was recorded mostly live by Emily Sprague (Florist) and Felix Walworth (Told Slant), in their home studio in Brooklyn. The record is the first to showcase the sound of Smith's live band as its primary sonic touchstone, replacing the highly produced and overdubbed sound of Smith’s earlier records with a more immediate, naturally produced sound.

A sweet little gem of an EP, fraught with indecision and insecurity.
-Pitchfork, on "Year of the Rabbit"
Smith's delicate voice blankets Year Of The Rabbit, grounded in sparse, shimmering backgrounds, near-perfect pop sensibilities, and, perhaps most importantly, a sense of humor.
-MTV
Smith has mastered indie pop love songs with sweet, upbeat vocals combined with poignant, bleak lyrics.
-Post-Trash
The stripped-down, downtempo tracks that accompany Year of the Rabbit are an especially relaxed alternative to modern pop, focusing less on grandiose production and ornamentation and more on the natural beauty of the music and the honesty in the lyrics. It all feels like an invitation right into Smith's head, which is definitely a good thing considering how interesting Smith is.
-Pop Matters
Year of the Rabbit takes its time to close the bedroom door, ask some questions, replay some conversations, and quietly reflect.
