Really From Announce new Self-Titled LP

Boston's Really From have always eschewed categorization, pulling equal parts jazz improvisation, minimalist composition, and punk rock ethos together to dismiss traditional genre in favor of explorative amalgamations.

Since 2014, their ever-evolving sound has incorporated stylistic touchstones from math rock to ambient, exploring themes of place, self, and culture through a dialect entirely their own. Really From wowed old and new fans alike with their 2017 Topshelf debut Verse.

"[A] fusion of jazz musicianship, emo spirit, and indie-pop tunefulness so coherent that even the ugly parts are beautiful in their precision."
-Pitchfork

On their new self-titled record, out March 12, 2021, Michi Tassey (keys, synth bass) and Chris Lee-Rodriguez (guitar) exchange vocal leads regularly, shifting perspectives and ranges as their songs cascade through varied musical worlds, refracting their thematic questions concerned with intergenerational trauma, tokenism, and immigrant parenthood. Trumpeter Matt Hull and drummer Sander Bryce often take on lead voices of their own, further reconfiguring traditional notions of genre and songwriting.

Check out their curated playlist of influences, with selections varying from Modest Mouse to Duke Ellington, and use this page to be notified when pre-orders for Really From go live - available on CD, cassette, and three vinyl variants (click through for pictures).
